A young Carrigaline man has won for himself a new Ford Focus car in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s (SVP) Annual Car Draw, which has generated an amazing €251,181.
The draw, which took place on 15th January at the Cork City Ford showrooms at Forge Hill, Cork, saw Lord Mayor Cllr. Dan Boyle draw the first prize and then rang the lucky winner – Séan Kennedy Jr., Carrigaline – to break the good news.
There were six other lucky winners of cash prizes from the draw: The Bishops’ Prize of €1,500 (supported by the Bishop of Cork & Ross, Bishop of Kerry and Bishop of Cloyne prize) was won by Ger Conroy, Co. Laois. Organisers wish to extend a special thank you to the three Bishops for their generous support every year.
Other winners included: Maria McGeever, Marian Creedon, Gemma Robins, Breid McCole and Alan McCormack.
This money raised from the annual car draw, which is now in its 24th year, will be used to assist those in need throughout the winter months ahead.
‘SINCERE THANKS’
Speaking at the handover of the car to the lucky winner at Cork City Ford showrooms by the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Dan Boyle, Mary Frances Behan South West Regional president SVP, said she was “most grateful for the generosity of the Cork and Kerry public for their support”.
Ms Behan said the funds would help offer a lifeline to struggling families and individuals in the region.
“A special word of sincere thanks to our car draw ambassador, Francis Brennan and to our suppliers and sponsors throughout 2024. Due to their generosity, we have raised a staggering €251,181 this year,” she said.
