All the collections are in and at their last raceday, Cork Racecourse Mallow presented the Rickie Healy Appeal with a cheque for €33,000.

The racecourse generously donated all the proceeds from the gate to the Rickie Healy appeal, supporting the young sportsman’s recovery following his life changing injury in July.

“We were delighted to get involved in the appeal and it was great to see such a strong outpour of support from the local community on the day,” Racecourse Manager Andrew Hogan, said.

Further fundraising events have been planned for Rickie, including the Rearing for Rickie project going on at the Kanturk Livestock Mart in March. As many as 51 weanlings have already been donated to the project and Kanturk Mart will hold a special charity auction on Friday, March 23.

There is also a Cheltenham Preview Night planned for Thursday evening, March 1, in the Arches Bar in Mallow with top trainers Jessica Harrington, Shark Hanlon and Ted Walsh already lined up to take part.

“We are very grateful to everyone who has gotten involved. The amount of goodwill and support has been amazing and has given us strength,” Pat Coleman who is involved in running the Trust said.  Anyone looking for more information should check out the Rickie Healy Appeal on Facebook.
