Conna celebrations for centenarian Mary

Mary Carr, set to celebrate her 100th birthday.

This Saturday, May 24th, the community of Conna will celebrate an extraordinary milestone – the 100th birthday of Mary Carr.

Born Mary Gallagher in Curraglass in 1925 to parents Richard Gallagher and Mary Spillane, Mary grew up with three siblings, her two brothers, Dan and Michael (deceased) and sister, Breda (deceased).

In later life, she married William “Bill” Carr, and together they built both a family and a thriving business. In 1946, they founded William Carr & Sons, a seafood processing company that became a cornerstone of the local economy.
