
For the first time in 10 years, a local group toured the interior of Conna Castle, taking in all the works carried out on the heritage site over the past decade. The castle, previously owned by the Fitzgeralds, is now in the ownership of the Office of Public Works (OPW).
Since 2015, the castle has been inaccessible to the public, despite OPW claims otherwise, however, on Saturday, a small group of locals made their way to the historic structure where OPW staff gave access and provided a tour.
Conna local, Tom Finn, who was among those lobbying for access over the years, said that the trip went ‘very well’ and hopefully heralds a new era for the striking piece of Conna’s history.
