Fermoy may soon be set to welcome its very own radio station, as a group of local people have come together to found Fermoy Community Radio.
An appeal for volunteers was issued recently from the committee, who seek interested locals to host shows and help out with the general running of the operation. According to a spokesperson for the group, the idea was first mooted around two years ago but it stalled for a time before re-igniting.
“We got onto Youghal Community Radio to see how they run the show down there. They’re there 40 years, so they’re well advanced and they’ve a fine premises and all. It was just to get an idea of how we go about setting it up and what you have to do and what you have to get, where to start and how to keep going,” a spokesperson said.
