Coder Dojo participants and trainers at Bright Sparks, Mitchelstown.

After the success of the Coder Dojo workshops in Mitchelstown over the summer, they will now return this Saturday, to run throughout the school year.

Suitable for those aged between 9 and 16, Coder Dojo will run in Bright Sparks on Saturdays, starting this Saturday, September 28 from 9am until 11am with a token charge of €2 per person.

The aim is for children to learn about computer coding, website design, apps, programmes and games in an informal way and it has been set up and is being run by volunteers in Mitchelstown.

Coder Dojo was started by Cork man James Whelton, supported by businessman Bill Liao and since it started in 2011, it has gone global.

The group in Mitchelstown will also be bringing in guest speakers to talk about the practical applications of what they learn and all those interested are welcome to come along to the sessions on Saturday mornings.
