Cork County Council is being asked to provide CCTV cameras at Strawhall in Fermoy to end the scourge of on-going illegal dumping.

Cllr Noel McCarthy made the request at the recent meeting of the Fermoy Electoral Area Committee of the county council. He had the support of Cllr. Kevin O'Keeffe. Cllr. McCarthy outlined the situation which has seen black bags full of rubbish dumped in the scenic area there on numerous occasions in recent months. "They're getting away with it" he said of the culprits.

It was agreed to write to the Environment section of the county council asking that they consider placing surveillance cameras there in an attempt to curb the practice.
