Castletown’ in full swing for popular festival

The progressive village of Castletownroche was buzzing last weekend as it pulled out all the stops to make this year’s festival a resounding success.

Fine weather, large crowds and top class entertainment were all features of this well supported festival, which ran over two days. Last Saturday’s family fun day was followed by a fancy dress parade. That evening, ballad group, Eire Ceol, performed in the village centre. Adults relaxed out of doors with their drinks, children played a variety of games and overall, there was a carnival atmosphere on the banks of the Awbeg river. 

VERY BUSY SUNDAY

Events on Sunday included the glamorous granny competition, baby show and dog show. Jack O’Riordan provided the music on Sunday afternoon with evergreen rockers, Deuces Wild, the big attraction on Sunday evening.
