Castlelyons tillage farmer, Dermot McAuliffe is among the 12 winners in the Glanbia Ireland Grain Awards 2020, taking the Malting Barley title in the annual competition.
Dermot farms approximately 140 acres of combinable crops adjacent to Castlelyons on the banks of the River Bride, including winter wheat, winter barley and spring malting barley.
“I’ve been doing this for most of my life. I’m a tillage farmer, so it’s just a part of my everyday life,” he told The Avondhu.
In 2015, Dermot won the overall Glanbia Quality Grain Award being one of 11 category winners recognised for the excellence of his crops at the annual event.
