Carraig athlete takes national bronze in track and field championships

Local athlete, Ciarán Nugent, continues to rise through the ranks as he picked up a third-place finish in the Men’s 400m Hurdles at the 123.ie National Track and Field Championships.

Taking place over the weekend, the Watergrasshill local who is a member of Carraig na bhFear Athletics Club, took to the track at the 151st edition of the national championships, going head-to-head with some of Ireland’s best athletes.

In his first year competing in the Senior category, Olympian and training partner, Thomas Barr were among Ciarán’s competitors on the track, with the Ferrybank AC member finishing in first place in a time of 49.83, followed by Thomas Anthony Pitkin of Clonliffe Harriers AC at 52.96 with Ciaran in 3rd at 54.00.
