A woman has made a desperate plea for help to catch a callous thief who stole three bags from a car as she and two colleagues attended a removal in Mitchelstown.

The incident on Tuesday evening when Fiona Sheehan from Ballynoe parked her car near Kingston College as she went to the Chapel Of Rest funeral home for the service.

Fiona told The Avondhu that she and two other friends had travelled to Mitchelstown to attend the removal of a colleague’s relative.

When they returned to the car they found that the back window had been smashed and the three handbags were missing.

Fiona said: “I just hope that someone reading this article may find the bags while they are out for a walk or maybe find them dumped somewhere.

“It is awful to think you can’t even go into a funeral. The place where I parked was busy as well,” she said.

Fiona called the guards and two gardai from Fermoy came to begin the investigation.

They carried out a forensic examination of the car and also were set to canvas for possible CCTV footage.

Among the three handbags was a pink make-up bag along with mobile phones and even the house and car keys of one of the women.
