Interim works to Mitchelstown Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) have provided an additional capacity for 200 persons equivalent (PE). However, capital works are still necessary, according to council officials.
Cork County Council County Engineer Kevin Morey, stated that the recent works, which involved the rehabilitation of the fourth filter at the plant, would allow for development in Mitchelstown to recommence.
According to Mr Morey, the new filter offered an additional capacity of around 70 to 75 units for the town.
