Children’s safety is being put at risk at the entrance to Presentation Primary School in Fermoy as cars are parking in 'no parking' zones each morning, leaving the children with no choice but to step out onto the road. 

The Green Schools Committee is led by teacher Niamh Dillon, and is made up of two representatives from each class from 2nd class to 6th class.

They are aiming towards receiving the Travel flag this year and so have introduced measures to try to improve the issues with vehicles and transport to the school. 

Last year, the committee completed surveys and analysis at both entrances to the school and discovered that cars were dropping children off outside the school gates in the morning by parking their cars directly in front of the entrance in a no parking zone.

This was creating a dangerous situation for children trying to walk through the school entrance as cars were obstructing the safe pathway for children …
