Business owners in Castletownroche are in revolt over plans to dramatically alter the streetscape at Junction at The Hill and Chapel Street by introducing a plaza, pedestrianisation and new parking and traffic flow measures.
Opposition to the Cork County Council plan is mounting with the Castletownroche business group objecting to the newly proposed arrangements. They say the implementation of the plan would have a detrimental impact on business and safety concerns.
Castletownroche Business Group say that any successful town revival is most likely to be achieved where there is a 'close partnership on projects between the community, public and private sector'.
