Builder owed over €500k as vandals move in on stalled social housing build

They could be homes in a matter of months. The estate should be full of the sounds of family life: children playing, washing machines spinning, dinners being cooked.

But instead, in the half-completed social housing scheme of Crann Árd in Ballynamona, Fermoy, weeds are growing rapidly, windows are smashed, the ground is littered with shattered porcelain from sinks.  

Local contractors who claim they are owed over half a million euro on the stalled Crann Árd social housing project in Fermoy say some of the 48 homes could be completed in a matter of weeks. But instead, they’ve lain unfinished for 28 months and are now being vandalised.
