Cork County Council have agreed to allow free parking in the car parks in Fermoy on November 23 to coincide with Black Friday and with the official switching on of the Fermoy Christmas lights.

The decision was made following a motion brought forward by Cllr Noel McCarthy at the most recent Fermoy Municipal District Meeting when he asked if an exception could be made to the pay parking by-laws on Black Friday to encourage people to come and spend the day shopping in Fermoy and to experience the magic of the official switch-on of the lights.

Cork County Council agreed to have free parking in all of the carparks in Fermoy on that day.

The official Christmas free parking initiative will then come into effect from December 1st for the month of December.

“It’s a great boost to the town and it will give people another good reason to come to Fermoy on Black Friday and during the Christmas period,” said Cllr McCarthy.

“I want to thank the council for supporting this great initiative,” he concluded.
