Friday, 20th October last was an evening like no other for many of us at Bon Secours Hospital, Cork! Almost 250 staff celebrated significant milestones in their service to the Cork Hospital at our first Long Service Awards Evening since before the Covid pandemic.

Together, the total number of accumulated years of service amounted to a staggering 6,365 years! Among those who were due a Long Service Award were 1 staff member who celebrates 50 years of service, 9 staff who were recognized for 45 years of service, 8 for 40 years, 24 for 35 years, 41 for 30 years, 50 for 25 years and 116 for 20 years.

This year’s event began with a beautiful Mass of Thanksgiving in the Orangerie of the Maryborough Hotel, Douglas, followed by dinner and dancing in the Sherrard Suite.

Huge thanks to everyone at the hospital, especially the members of our Living our Mission Committee, who worked tirelessly over the past while to ensure that this year’s Long Service Awards was truly a night to remember!
