Residents of Beechfield Estate in Fermoy are concerned regarding any possible development for the green area in the precincts of the estate and say they are prepared to fight to ensure it is preserved for amenity purposes.

Cllr Deirdre O’Brien raised a motion at the last Northern Committee meeting and was advised that Cork County Council are reviewing all lands under its ownership in areas of highest demand to ascertain their development potential.

The council have significant demand in Fermoy and are currently undertaking a feasibility study on the best options for a Remedial Works Scheme, as requested by the members. As such, until such time as this is completed, the council cannot comment on this particular request.
