Mitchelstown Musical Society were very quick off the mark securing the rights to 'Shrek – the Musical', a story that follows the fortunes of a less that beautiful looking creature, who thanks to the force of his positive personality and resourcefulness, eventually finds love.
Having got a flavour of the show at Tuesday's opening night, the adjective that springs to mind most readily is lavish, which can also be interpretated as expensive.
Regardless of the number of cheques written, the end product is impressive, with lots of colour, intricate dance routines, sing-a-long tunes, great costumes and a seemingly endless collection of characters, eg, wolves, rats, mice, elves, witches, dragons, etc.
