A colony of bats who have taken up residency at the site where a new reservoir is to be built in Kildorrery are delaying the project because they can’t be disturbed during their breeding season.
Planning permission has been granted to install the new reservoir at the existing tower site in Kildorrery but because of environmental constraints the project will not proceed until either the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020.
Water outages have become common place in Kildorrery in recent years due to ageing pipes and an old outdated reservoir tower which doesn’t have the capacity to supply the area.
