On Wednesday morning, Cahir Superintendent Denis Whelan confirmed that the two Gardaí stationed in both Ballyporeen and Clogheen are to be redeployed back to Cahir and Cashel from the beginning of October.
Speaking on Tipp FM, the Superintendent sought to reassure people that there will be designated community hours in both stations: “The people of Clogheen and Ballyporeen, you’ve nothing to fear in this move, this will not affect your policing service.”
The redeployment of resources is not a closure of the stations, but it does mean that the two Gardaí in question would not be stationed in the South Tipperary villages.
