The Ballyhoura Science Day is back with a bang on November 19th in Mitchelstown Leisure Centre, where live snakes and reptiles will be onsite from The Animal Roadshow.
The free event will also feature RTÉ Junior’s Dale Treadwell with his dinosaur show, and visitors will be able see the reptiles that used to roam the earth.
Attendees will be transported through time and space with the 360 degree Dome Cinema visuals, and also have the chance to learn about engineering while building Lego with Bricks4Kidz. Engineering skills will also be on offer the 29th/30th Mitchelstown Scouts, who will be in action putting up tents and other structures
Children and adults will get the chance to visit the Community Food Initiative folks to find out more about nutrition and sample some tasty and healthy snacks. Meanwhile, Ballyhoura staff will be on hand in the Energy Hub, where they will be sharing their knowledge on how to reduce energy consumption in the home and how to tackle the rising cost of living.
Cathal Nolan, Climate Change researcher and CEO of Ireland’s Weather Channel will give an educational talk suitable for the whole family about his climate research. Alongside all of this, The Professor Konor Halpin, will be doing messy science experiment shows throughout the day, where attendees are guaranteed to get their hands dirty.
Younger children can visit the Craft Corner and have fun with paper, glue and sparkles. The day will be jam-packed with workshops, shows, interactive experiences and so much more fun and learning for all ages.
