First things first – Fermoy Musical Society will stage Hot Mikado in Fermoy Community Youth Centre from Saturday, November 5.

Secondly, there’s an important fundraiser coming up to help defray costs associated with the forthcoming production – this takes the form of a fashion show in Corrin Event Centre on Thursday, September 29.

Thirdly, the society received a welcome cash injection by hosting a very successful ball run on Kevin Barry Hill, Fermoy last Friday.

A good fine evening made things a bit easier as the individually sponsored plastic balls were released from the top of the hill. Relying only on gravity, they set off before coming to rest in a specially constructed corral. The first ball home was purchased by Damien Lambe from Mitchelstown – he won €150, in second place was Maurice Carroll from Coolagown who gets €100. Well done to these and all the prize winners.

Reflecting on the fundraiser, Tom Beresford, President of Fermoy Musical Society, thanked everyone who helped sell the balls as well as the very supportive public who dug deep to assist.

A special word of thanks is also due to members of An Garda Siochana who closed off Kevin Barry Hill for a short duration to facilitate the event.
