Avondhu along with Imokilly, Carbery, UCC and CIT advance to the knock-out stages Divisions/Colleges Co Section SHC following their win over Muskerry at Mallow on Thursday evening. The game was evenly contested for long periods with the issue in doubt up to the 45th minute. Andrew Cagney (2) and Maurice O’Sullivan gave Avondhu an early three point lead. The sides were level at 0-5 each by the 18th minute. Avondhu had their first goal from Eoin Dillon. Peter O’Brien pointed a 65 with Mark Cremin closing the gap at the break to two points 1-7 to 0-8.

On the changeover the North Cork side gained control from the offset. Avondhu forwards were in regular supply and raced them into a 1-14 to 0-10 lead by the 47th minute. In the 50th minute Tadhg Healy set up David Geary for a great point from out near the sideline. Peter O’Brien followed with a point from a tight angle while moments later they finished the game off as a contest when Henry O’Gorman placed Andrew Cagney for a well taken goal as it set them on their way to a well merited victory.
