Mitchelstown Business Association (MBA) have written to Cork County Council officials asking whether it is illegal to trade in the town square outside of Thursdays.

Members of the association believe it is unfair on businesses who have to pay rates and public liability insurance to compete against traders with no overheads.

The MBA say that they are very much open to listening to suggestions as to how they can support and enhance the Thursday trading in the square but that is where their support for trading in the square stops.
