On April 15th this year, Kathleen Flynn (nee O'Callaghan) passed away after a short illness. A resident of Toor in Ballyduff Upper, Kathleen had a life-long association with Araglin and its people. A friendly and compassionate person, she made friends easily and was delighted to become involved in Araglin Ladies Club when it was set up some years ago.

GREAT LOSS

She always looked forward to the chat and was invariably great company. Her many comrades in Araglin Ladies Club didn't want her contribution to club activities to go unacknowledged and they take this opportunity to say how much she was respected and appreciated. The club is very much the poorer for her passing.

While her death is a great loss to Araglin Ladies Club, it's nothing compared to the deep sense of sadness felt by her husband, John and daughters, Mags (Carroll) and Eilish (Vaughan). Kathleen and John were a couple in every sense of the word and relied heavily on each other. She shared John's love of the old ways and was a constant companion on trips to vintage rallies throughout the region.

A statement to The Avondhu by Araglin Ladies Club reads as follows: 'The members of Araglin Ladies Club wish to publicly offer their condolences to the Flynn family on the passing of Kathleen. Kathleen made a huge contribution to the club over many years and will be sorely missed by all its members. May she rest in peace'.
