The beautiful chapel at Kingston College was full to capacity on Friday afternoon for the launch of ‘Another Mitchelstown Miscellany’ – a collection of works from members of Mitchelstown Writers Group.
Performing the launch, Liam Howard said the Miscellany contained a wonderful collection of short stories, poems and prose, beautifully presented.
He said the finished product was a credit to all involved with the writers group and he hoped that in five, ten years time, we would be seeing Miscellany number 5 and 6 etc.
What followed was a diverse programme of readings introduced by Carole Bradley and interrupted only by a charming musical interlude given by Noreen Hellen (harp and keyboard) and Pat Pierce (flute) in addition to story and song from Mick Treacy.
Those who read included (in no particular order) Esther Langley, Joan O’Callaghan, Brenda Breeds, Brendan Healy, Angela Osbourn, Ciara Flynn, Mary Meaney, Maire Treacy, Ann Griffin, Bernadette Hussey, Ann Gildea, Sheila Casey, Oliver Stack and Bunty Flynn.
To conclude, Bunty thanked all involved with the project with a special word of thanks to Ann Griffin who who compiled the book (and to whom Bunty subsequently presented a bouquet of flowers); she thanked Liam Howard for performing the launch and praised his involvement with The Village Arts Centre.
Finally, she acknowledged the lovely photographs provided by Carole Bradley for the book cover. Later, Carole kindly opened her home for refreshements to which all were invited.
