The Tipperary Peace Convention has welcomed the international attention generated by a recent Instagram post from actress, filmmaker and humanitarian Angelina Jolie, congratulating renowned British photographer and humanitarian Giles Duley on his forthcoming Tipperary International Peace Award.
In a moving tribute shared on her official Instagram account, followed by millions of people around the world, Jolie posted a series of powerful photographs taken by Duley during her visit to Ukraine. The post congratulates Duley on being selected to receive the prestigious Tipperary International Peace Award, bringing significant international recognition to both his work and the award itself.
Duley has devoted his career to documenting the human impact of war and conflict, producing powerful photographic essays that highlight the resilience and dignity of people living through humanitarian crises. According to Jolie’s post, it was Duley who encouraged her to visit Ukraine, and the photographs she shared were captured during that visit.

The Tipperary International Peace Award will be presented to Giles Duley at a special ceremony in Tipperary on Tuesday, 15th September. The award recognises individuals and organisations whose work has made an exceptional contribution to peace, justice and human dignity.
For more than four decades, the Peace Award has honoured distinguished international figures whose actions have advanced peace and reconciliation across the world.
