Traffic congestion and issues with safety on Emmet Street in Fermoy have been highlighted, as the return to schools this month has also meant the return of school buses and increased traffic.

Drop off and collection times at the location see multiple buses parked outside St Colman’s Secondary School on Emmett Street. The road is a busy one, serving the schools and connecting Cork Road with College Road.

Local activist, Joe Tobin, has branded the situation as ‘an accident waiting to happen’.

“The whole thing is gone mad up there. I’m calling on the School Transport manager to come down and see this. It’s been going on for years and it’s still an ongoing problem”.
