Local community centres are among those to receive significant sums under the €33 million fund dished out to some 278 community centres for upgrades and development.
Kilworth Community Council received one of the largest local allocations, which will go towards restoring the Village Arts Centre.
Located in the heart of the village, the former church has been at the centre of the community’s arts and culture scene for some time now, having hosted a diverse range of plays and shows over the years.
Chairperson of Kilworth Community Council, Noel O’Brien explained that funding allocated on Thursday will be put towards the restoration of the building, primarily the roof, internal ceilings and steeple.
