If you would like to take up the hobby of gardening, Mitchelstown Community Council now has a number of allotments to lease.

The allotments were officially opened recently by Mayor of County Cork, Cllr Alan Coleman who praised the industry and initiative of Mitchelstown Community Council.
As the Mayor said, these allotments have opened up all kinds of possibilities for those who have, heretofore, not been in a position to grow and tend plants, flowers and crops.

Secretary of the community council Ellen Tatten, told The Avondhu this week: "This is an ideal opportunity for someone who doesn't have a plot of their own in which to grow vegetables, flowers or any other kind of plants."

The allotments, which are available on a lease arrangement, are part of a one and half acre plot which is situated between the cemetery and town playground (near the Catholic Church). Plots are available at an introductory offer of €50, enquires to 025-85213.
