The last day of school before the summer holidays begin, is a momentous event for parents, children and teachers.
Whether feeling relieved or emotional, teachers and students marking the occasion, know in the back of their minds that in no time at all they’ll be planning for the new school year.
That’s been the way of life now for the past 35 years for Aileen O’Dwyer, principal of Knockadea National School in South Limerick but this summer, the lady described as ‘an institution’, can focus on other things, put herself first for once and enjoy her retirement.
