Recently the club received the great news that one of our members, Aidan McNamara has been selected to play for Ireland. This is fantastic news and a great honour to play tennis for your country.
Aidan took up the game of tennis when he was 10 years old. He played regularly as a junior for Mitchelstown Tennis Club on teams and in individual competitions. Aidan was selected for trials with Munster juniors on a number of occasions.
There were many great memories of playing tennis amongst the juniors. Aidan particularly remembers the late Mrs Patricia Hanley. Patricia was a mentor to Aidan and his fellow junior boys and girls in the club.
She gave so much of her time to the young members and her motto was “without juniors, you’ve nothing …”
