Ahmet takes Chef of the Year award

Ahmet Dede of Dede at the Customs House, Baltimore, Co Cork accepted the award for National Chef of the Year at The Food&Wine Restaurant of the Year Awards in association with Rémy Martin which took place at The Mansion House, Dublin on Sunday.

The event was attended by some of Ireland’s best chefs and restaurateurs from across the country, with no other event bringing together the hospitality industry like the Food&Wine Restaurant of the Year Awards.

Regional award winners from Munster, announced on the night, are as follows: Best Wine Experience Munster (in association with O’Briens Wines) – winner, L’Atitude 51; highly commended, The Beach House. Best Casual Dining Munster – winner, Goldie; highly commended, Sage. Best Chef Munster – winner, Ahmet Dede; highly commended, Rob Krawczyk. Best Restaurant Munster – winner, Dede at the Customs House; highly commended, Pilgrim’s.

Other winners on the night included the Hall of Fame award, which went to Paul and Máire Flynn, The Tannery, Dungarvan, while the Young Chef of the Year was awarded to Dan Hannigan of Orwell Road Restaurant, Rathgar. The Emerging Producer award, in association with Dunnes Stores Simply Better, went to Bon Chocolatiers. The winner of the 2022 Food&Wine Restaurant of the Year was Aimsir at the Cliff at Lyons, Co Kildare.

Overall winners, in association with Rémy Martin, saw Restaurant of the Year awarded to Aimsir, Co Kildare; Casual Dining of the Year was awarded to Goldie, Cork city. Wine Experience of the Year, in association with O’Brien’s Wines, went to L’Atitude 51 and Chef of the Year went to Ahmet Dede, the Customs House, Baltimore, Co Cork.
