The long running Tallow Horse Fair, attracted hundreds to the west Waterford town last Thursday. The formula is a tried and trusted one that involves horses, traders and the general public. While the fair causes some disruption to normal life, with some businesses opting to close, the fair is viewed by most, as an unofficial holiday and an opportunity to meet old friends.
Fine weather conditions made the day even more enjoyable last week. Traders were in situ from early morning, with many arriving on the eve of fair day. These individuals are a resourceful lot whose ability to sell and their quick wits, keep them in business. There was the usual offering of clothes, tools and toys, in addition to live fowl, equine tack and of course, horses.
