St Fanahan's College, Mitchelstown came up with a winning recipe by hosting a very well supported cookery demonstration in The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown last Friday night.

Organizers traditionally turn to the women to make these events successful and without too much encouragement the ladies turned out in considerable numbers. Over the course of the evening they picked up a few culinary tips, tasted some excellent food, sipped samples of fine wine and generally enjoyed what was a wonderful social occasion.

Ó Crualaoi Butchers and Delicatessen, who have branches in Ballincollig and Fermoy were instrumental in the smooth running of the fundraiser and their staff deserve enormous praise for the excellent presentation, first class catering and their overall professionalism. The company's managing director, Francis Twohig was present to oversee proceedings and he said he was delighted with how things went.

"We're thrilled to be associated with such a well run event, St Fanahan's College and its parents' council put in a huge amount of work to ensure things went well" he said.

Long established wine importer, Maurice O'Mahony also did his bit for the cause and he too was pleased with feedback from the event.

"The night went very well, there was a brilliant crowd in and hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves" he added.

Interested observers were incoming principal of St Fanahan's College, Tadhg Long along with the man he's taking over from, Colman Murphy. In keeping with the previous comments they too were mightily impressed with how the entire event was received.

Ultimately, the main beneficiaries from last Friday night will be the students of St Fanahan's College who can look forward to improved facilities at their school following a fundraiser that was an unqualified organizational and financial success.
