Araglin Drama Group set for big night of entertainment
On this Thursday, 12th December, following a sold out performance in Limerick city, The Limerick Women Warriors present 'Blackguarded: Our Vagina Dialogue' as part of the 16 Days of Action Campaign.
This unique play, written and performed by Limerick city women, tells the story of every woman. Inspired by Eve Ensler’s 'Vagina Monologues', the play pulls the curtain back on women’s issues and lets the light in.
In this world premiere, the difficult topics of sexuality and violence are dealt with in a sensitive but also humorous way. The story is set in a café where women meet to talk over a cup of coffee. Each character has their own story to tell and soon they become united in the common experience of growing up female in Ireland. It's a piece not to be missed! All proceeds will go to Rape Crisis Midwest. Tickets €6.
OPEN MIC NIGHT
Join us on Monday 16th December for our final Open Mic Night of 2013, featuring as always an eclectic mix of writings. Budding and established writers are invited to share their work in a relaxed atmosphere. Just want to listen? Then sit back and enjoy an evening with a difference. Pieces should be no longer than 5-7mins. Admission free.
'MEET ME IN ST LOUIS'
On Friday 20th December, we will screen 'Meet Me In St Louis', one of the greatest films of all time and a true Christmas favourite.
Set at the turn of the century the film hints at an era about to vanish, when the simple pleasures of the 19th century are soon to be overtaken by a brave new world. Even the most granite-minded cynics will have difficulty in holding back a tear as Judy Garland sings 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'.
Tickets €5. All shows 8pm, bookings – 063-98727 or www.friarsgate.ie.
