Better Life Cycle – a group set up in 2013 to fundraise for St Joseph’s Foundation in Charleville, has raised almost half a million euro to date – €406,500 to be exact.
By any standard, it’s a remarkable, story that, according to Better Life Cycle volunteers, isn’t over yet. As most of us are busy putting up Christmas lights, scrambling around for presents, these dedicated cyclists are busy planning for their ‘Treaty/Kingdom Tour’, which is pencilled in for Saturday, 3rd June, 2023.
“We have our route, we have out date and preparations have begun, now it’s a case of drumming up support and getting as many cyclists on board as possible” Better Life Cycler John Walsh, told The Avondhu.
NEW MINI BUS
John, along with Better Life Cycle supporters, were out in force on Monday morning for the official handover of a new mini bus, which will be used by those using St Joseph’s Foundation services in MItchelstown, where the foundation has a facility (close to Mitchelstown Leisure Centre).
They were joined by: Aidan Hallahan (transport manager with St Joseph’s Foundation), Susan Nolan (fundraising co-ordinator with St Joseph’s Foundation) and day services manager, Sarah Moore.
All were in agreement that the wheelchair accessible, 9 seater Renault Trafic, is a huge boost to service users in Mitchelstown. The new mini bus is in addition to a similar vehicle that also serves the Mitchelstown catchment.
