Park United AFC’s new floodlit astroturf pitch in Mitchelstown is now up and running, and with the carpet laid mid-November, the first game was held just two weeks later.
The development couldn’t come too soon, as treasurer of the club David O’Connor recently explained to The Avondhu that the football club now caters for 19 teams: 15 boys’ teams and four girls’.
There could soon be 20 though, as they have “put out the feelers” for a Senior women’s team and had about 20 players interested.
