This week was the beginning of a new era for Gaelic games in Castlelyons as Phase 1 of the Castlelyons GAA Development which includes a second pitch located adjacent to the existing playing pitch with a new entrance and exit, got underway.
Speaking with The Avondhu on Tuesday, PRO of Castlelyons GAA Eoin Barry explained that there are three phases of the development, the first being the development of a new state-of-the-art playing pitch, coming in at an estimated cost of €450,000.
“The reason we need it is because we have a growing population. We have four clubs here that are all trying to use one pitch at the minute and things are getting tight. Things are getting a small bit outdated, so to try and keep pace with everything that is needed, we have to put in a large investment into the playing facilities,” he said.
