16 children without a pre-school in Ballyhooly due to planning problems

Sixteen local children could be left without pre-school facilities as it has recently been announced that the pre-school at Ballyhooly Community Centre will be unable to run this year due to issues with planning.

The pre-school, which has been running in the community for over fifteen years, ran into issues recently following a change of hands when the former operator stepped down in 2020.

Speaking with The Avondhu, chairperson of Ballyhooly Community Council, Kay Magner, explained that the community council have been working on the issue since January 2021.

“The problem is that there is no planning permission for a pre-school or crèche facility in the community centre. The person that was there didn’t have to have planning …” Kay said.
