Lismore sportsman and former Waterford hurler, Maurice Shanahan, has opened up about his battle with depression and is encouraging people to start a conversation.
As part of a new campaign by Janssen Sciences Ireland supporting open and honest conversations, Mr Shanahan is taking part in the Talking Depression series.
In a recent video shared by Janssen Ireland, Maurice speaks with his brother, former inter-county hurler Dan Shanahan, about the depression that almost overwhelmed him in 2014.
Sport has been a huge part of Maurice's life for as long as he can remember.
“When we went to primary school, the first thing we were given was a hurley and a ball, not a book,” Maurice said.
