As the sun shone brightly, thousands of people made their to Mallow over the weekend to the Racing Home for Easter Festival at Cork Racecourse Mallow, which has now become a calendar highlight for many.

The three day event was a huge success with a variety of events both at the racecourse and in the town, to give the event a really fun festival atmosphere with something for all the family.

While the racing was the highlight for many racing enthusiasts, there were also those who had been racing around the boutiques to find the perfect outfits for the Best Dressed Lady and Gent prizes and there were many contenders, with bright and bold head pieces making the statements for many of the ladies outfits.

The Best Dressed Lady was won by Mary Harris from Mallow, while scooped the prize for the Best Dressed Gent Aron Gvynes.

There were a number of events on in Mallow Castle, which helped to show people, both locals and visitors, how much potential there is in the castle grounds and how the area can become the central hub for town based tourist events.

Over the Easter weekend, there was a host of entertainment there with everything from mime and magic to amusements and a food and craft fair on Sunday.

On Monday, more than 80 people registered for the 10km family cycle, which was a huge success.
