— New Interior Decorating Business and Online Home Interior Shop —

A new Tipperary home interior store and interior décor consultancy is worth checking out if you are considering redecorating your home or looking for inspiration for your new build.

Máire Hennessy O’Connor established Chic Dwelling Décor in late 2020 in the midst of the Covid Pandemic after 20 years in tourism and hospitality. Already her new business is proving a hit with homeowners and her passion for interiors and design is shining through.

Máire was very lucky to have completed a course in Interior Design with Dublin Institute of Design just before the first lockdown in March 2020 so it was good timing with the tourism industry being hit so hard by the pandemic.

Máire is now an Associate Member of Interiors Association of Ireland which she has found fantastic for networking and keeping up to date on the latest interior trends and sourcing unique pieces.

Armed with a background in marketing and a keen eye for design and detail, Máire set to work establishing her online interior consultancy and retail business, sourcing vintage and antique finds and lining up crafts people in the local area and around the country. She also established a new website and set up social media pages @chicdwellingdecor (Facebook & Instagram) to help get the word out on her new venture.

To date she lined up a number of craft companies, artists, candle makers whose products are sold through her online shop. Máire is keenly aware of shopping local and supporting local as much as possible.

Máire also benefitted from valuable support via her Local Enterprise Office, taking part in online webinars and training events to help get her fledging business up and running.

Máire adapted her business during lockdown, offering Zoom Interior Consultations with clients for one hour.

“The zoom interior consultation still is a great offering. So much can be covered in one hour and I am happy to answer as many questions as you have within that time about your home”.

Máire is delighted to be back visiting homes in the Munster and Leinster areas and Home Consultations are 2-hour visit. Máire also offers Personal Shopping Experiences which really can save on time and money if you don’t wish to spend your weekends visiting home interior shops and Máire will help find the item that fits and suits the layout of your home.

Máire has a keen interest in antiques and vintage finds and loves nothing more than seeking new pieces and restoring and reupholstering items, working alongside local craftspeople close to home.

“It is so wonderful to see an old piece coming back to life. It is amazing what a lick of paint or a piece of lovely fabric can do to transform a vintage or antique find”.

Máire is a big believer in reusing and being sustainable when it comes to home interiors.
