This week saw over 1,000 pharmacists across the country start the process of offering Covid-19 vaccinations to the public.
Initially, pharmacists will be supplied with the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine. This vaccine is currently only permitted for use on the over-50s, and the restricted nature of its use has raised concern amongst some pharmacists in the area.
Data on how many over-50s are yet to receive the vaccine is not currently available, however, as registration for this group has been open since May 4, it is assumed that the vast majority of that age group have already received their vaccine.
As of this week, 26% of the adult population of Ireland are fully vaccinated.
