A North Cork IFA Rally took place in Mitchelstown last Friday morning, as part of a nationwide drive to highlight the importance of commercial farming and the agricultural sector to the rural economy.

The IFA held demonstrations in 30 towns across the country, in response to their concerns about the current CAP proposals and the Climate Action Bill.

It is expected that targets set in the Climate Action Bill will impact negatively on the farming sector and rural communities.

Local lady Ann Baker, who is Chair of the North Cork IFA branch, expressed the importance of the message of the demonstration, and the support they received.
