On Sunday, June 21 the first group of walkers / runners set off hoping to see the sunrise, even though the conditions looked very poor. It rained at the top and all hope seemed lost.
Then a clearing came and there was the sun rising gracefully into the sky.
This was the start of an 18 hour marathon – runners, walkers and climbers trying to achieve a new record for Glenbrohane, to try and climb ‘Mount Everest’, the highest mountain on the planet.
This was achieved at 7.45am by a relay of people spaced out in groups every 15 minutes.
