Posters/signage has been placed on both main entrance doors of a Fermoy apartment complex highlighting an 'infectious outbreak'.
From initial enquiries, there is no official record that a state organisation has erected the signage on the doors of the extensive Waterside complex, located on the corner of Abbey Street and Ashe Quay in the town.
The Avondhu understands the notices – 'NOTICE – Infectious Outbreak. No visitors allowed' – were put in place some time on Friday, May 22nd; however, this has to be officially confirmed.
The Avondhu reported this week that efforts are continuing 'in Fermoy and Mitchelstown to minimise the general exposure to an outbreak of Covid-19, which has impacted workers in the area'. Many of the cases are being linked to an outbreak in the Kepak processing plant in Watergrasshill.
STRICT HYGIENE MEASURES ESSENTIAL
With a large number of positive tests in the area being confirmed by Dr Paddy Burke in The Avondhu's weekly GP Covid-19 column on May 21st, members of the public are being reminded to adhere to strict personal hygiene measures i.e. regular hand washing, social distancing, etc.
As certain businesses reopen following Phase 1 of the Government's Roadmap, most have now enforced safety measures to reassure customers visiting their premises.

A spokesperson for the property management company, Proactive Property Care, confirmed to The Avondhu on Saturday that the signage had been erected on Thursday, for the protection of residents, in light of the cases of Covid-19 locally in the area.
“A letter had been dropped through the letterboxes of each apartment to inform residents. In line with Government advice, as this is a multi-unit complex, the signage has been erected to stop people coming in to help avoid further contamination (locally)”.
The spokesperson also confirmed that appropriate signage has been put in place in the building, in both the lifts and on the floor area, highlighting the importance of social distancing.
