A Mitchelstown couple had a lucky escape as a lightning bolt blasted their home near the golf course last weekend.
The incident happened shortly after 5pm last Saturday when a passing storm sent thunder and lighting into farm land.
Kevin and Breda Clifford have lived in the house for the last number of years. Kevin told The Avondhu that he was not at home at the time of the incident but Breda was there.
“I wasn’t home but Breda was in the house at the time – it was very frightening for her but she’s fine. Thank God no one was injured.
