The TY boys of St Colman’s College Fermoy featured on RTE News on Monday evening last with their chart topping cover of ‘Lean On Me’.
Paschal Sheehy visited the school and spoke to some of the students and their music teacher Sarah Barry, as well as filming a performance of the song.
The charity single, which is in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital, Bumbleance, Ronald McDonald House and for a classmate of the boys who was recently diagnosed with cancer, topped the iTunes chart in Ireland almost immediately after it was released last Wednesday and it has remained in the top slot ever since.
The boys aim to raise as much money as they possibly can through their iFundraise link and they have hopes of reaching Christmas No 1 if they can keep up the amazing momentum.
The single can be downloaded from iTunes for just 99 cent and it will be available in hard copy from Amber Service Station and from Hanley’s Newsagents in Fermoy as well as from Dooley’s Post Office in Rathcormac.
The music video, recorded by Liam Geddes was released on Sunday, December 9 and has over 80,000 views to date.
“I had fire in my belly and a lump in my throat leaving St Colman’s College in Fermoy this afternoon – what a school, what a teacher and what a bunch of guys! Let’s make this a Christmas #1,” Paschal Sheehy posted on his Twitter page after his visit to St Colman’s on Monday.
